One of the key concepts Napoleon Hill revealed in terms of living your life successfully was, “defining your dream and having a burning desire for its achievement.”
In giving consideration as to what might be the answer to the question, “what should be our greatest passion, dream, or goal, in the spiritual realm?” there are always potential options.
We do know Jesus identified the greatest commandment as loving God with all of our heart, soul, strength and mind and our neighbour as our self. This kind of love spoken of here is very much dependant upon saying YES to the relationship with God through His Son, Jesus, the Messiah.
I suspect there is an underlying principle that goes deeper than this and it suggest to you. It is found in both the Old and New Testaments as a command. Leviticus 11:44-45 declares, I am Yahweh your God; consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am holy. Do not make yourselves unclean by any creature that moves about on the ground. {45} I am Yahweh who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy.” 1 Peter 1:15-16 declares, “But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; {16} for it is written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’”
The experience of holiness as laid out in Scripture is very much practical in nature as it applies to how we live out our daily life. Yes, it involves loving God and others, but it is much more. It involves seeking to do those things will be pleasing and honouring to God. It is about who we are and are seeking to become at the very core of our inner being. Holiness as a lived out practical experience is not just about what happens in the spiritual realm. It is about developing not only the desire for, but a burning passion for it to be an ongoing reality. It is very much relationship driven. It is bringing our life into alignment with that revealed to us through Jesus Christ in God’s Word. It is about our thoughts, beliefs, words, intentions, attitudes and actions demonstrating the fact that Jesus is not only in us, but we are seeking to allow Him to shine through our lives in an ongoing manner each day.
