Good Stewardship of Life Encompasses the Spiritual and Physical Kingdoms!

I received a new book in the mail yesterday. The book was written by Porter Stansberry and titled, The American Jubilee. I am only 25 pages into the book and have learned a number of things I didn’t know, I didn’t know about what is actually going in terms of the U.S. economy. I suspect that conditions in Canada are likely not much different. Our dollar is already significantly devalued to the American dollar and many “financial experts” are predicting our dollar will continue to devalue over the next year or so.

The concept of Jubilee comes from the Bible, Leviticus 25, in which all debt was to be forgiven every fifty years. Stansberry’s book speaks about the options available and potential repercussions which are possible, related to the choices made around this principle. It appears that most cultures and nations historically have a currency reset approximately every fifty years, whether they plan ahead for it, or not. This has recently happened already in smaller nations, the consequences of which have mainly just impacted the people within those nations. The question will be, what will the outcome be if this happens in one, or more of the world’s big financial players?

Stansberry shares an interesting comparison of how a socialist and non-socialist mindset would approach the coming challenge. I offer no opinion on this, nor do I share Porter Stansberry’s position. If you are interested, buy the book.

I do wonder as to the numbers of people which will listen to the “prophet’s” warning. Whether there is a call to evacuate because of a hurricane, or wild fires, there are always those who resist the warning. When people in our area are told to stay home, because of an impending snow storm in which the visibility will be reduced to zero and roads will be closed, they drive around barriers and continue on anyway.

The age old question of determining who to listen to is constantly before us. Our willingness to learn from the past and avoid the mistakes of those who have preceded us is often lacking in our judgment, especially when there is an agenda designed to keep people from knowing the truth.

The meaning of the word “prophet” in the New Testament was not so much connected to foretelling, as it was about forth-telling. In the declarations, people were being presented with information they must chose to accept, or reject and live with the outcomes of their choice.

What Porter Stansberry is doing in the financial/economic arena of life, those of us who are called to be spokespersons for God are doing in the spiritual arena of life. My perspective is, all areas of life is interconnected to the spiritual realm. God’s universal laws are integrated into every area of life. This is something, in my opinion, is not being told often enough. There can be no separation of spiritual and material worlds, regardless of what people may want or say. Good stewardship of life encompasses the spiritual and physical kingdoms!

Seek Things Which Bring Clarity From Your Past to Your Life!

In preparation for yesterday’s sermon I discovered something interesting. I was speaking on Psalm 23:1 which begins, “Yahweh is my shepherd.” When you do a search on Google for the word “shepherd” and click on the image tab all the initial pictures are dogs, not humans. If this is the mindset of the majority of people in our world, what kind of message are people receiving as they are introduced to the very familiar Scripture passage?

Later in the afternoon I began to think about the character traits often expressed by dogs. Their faithfulness, loyalty, commitment, love, willingness to protect and help in so many different ways. Our dog, Diamond expresses an incredible level of joyfulness and enthusiasm for life as well. While the imagery of what David was expressing in the opening words of Psalm 23 may not be what is currently being intended, perhaps there are still lessons which can be communicated from it.

Yes, we need to know what the role of a shepherd is and the valuable lessons God has for us from His Word, but maybe a bridge of connection could be built to some people through the example of a sheep dog. I know, we have dogs and cats, and the challenge might be a greater stretch for cat lovers. Just kidding! Well maybe!

The picture accompanying this article came from a photo album of my mom. The little fellow hugging and kissing this border collie was me when I was less than a year old. I saw this picture for the first time yesterday. I did not know I had a special liking of border collies that went back so many years. This was apparently my grandparent’s dog. I was never allowed to have one growing up. We have had dogs now for more than four decades. Aside from a very warped Pomeranian, who we had to move on, because he attacked our young son, all the family dogs have chosen someone else in the family as their “go to” person until Diamond, our border collie. I wonder if the long standing border collie vibrational frequency and connection had something to do with this current paring in our family?

Today’s article is a bit of a ramble of my journey, related to that which is current in my life, with some nuggets tucked in for those who will find them. Always be on the look out for those things which may bring clarity, or insight from your past into your present.

Incorporate This Dynamic Trio, Hope, Faith, and Love Into Your Life!

Where there is a sign, there is the potential for the reality to appear. Yesterday I was out shovelling the snow that had drifted into our front walk. There was not a lot of snow ,but with the high winds again today whatever snow we did get produced diminished visibility and unpleasant conditions. While I was outside cleaning the sidewalk I heard the once familiar sound of honking geese. I say “once familiar,” because it has been a number of months since this has happened. Living on the edge of town with fields on three sides, beyond the resident Canadian geese population, we have large numbers who stop over on their trek further north.

It was only a small, low flying flock, but it was the first of 2019. The first sign that winter might perhaps be close to relinquishing its grip on our area. This is certainly something to hope for.

Hope is an interesting thing. Without hope people will give up and give in. There are parts of our world that are hoping for rain. Since our ground is water saturated and the water table is almost to ground level again, I for one, am hoping for some dry weather. The reality is our ability to create reality out of hope is limited.

We cannot get along without hope, but we need more than hope. Our hope needs to be fuelled by faith for things to begin to materialize in this world. Faith, at its most powerful point is really knowingness. Yet, hope and faith as powerful as they are still comes up short, if they are not encased in unselfish love. God’s Word identifies this kind of love as “agape love.”

This is the kind of love that God reserves for His relationship with you. It is also the kind of love He desires for you to manifest in your life. The Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 13:13, “These three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” You want to incorporate this dynamic trio in your life.

What Will Your Life’s Story Reveal About You And Your Faith?

There is an account in the Book of Genesis, in the Bible, which tells the story of the life of a man who chose to do the right thing and trust God in the midst of difficulties. He believed God would work it all out. His name was Joseph. Betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery. Placed in prison for taking the moral high ground and rejecting the sexual advances of his owner’s wife. Left in prison when he helped a fellow prisoner. Joseph could easily have become discouraged and negative for all the things that happened in his life.

Ultimately God promoted Joseph to the second most powerful political position in the nation and was then used to save the lives of countless people during a time of a severe, widespread famine across many nations. This led to the reuniting and reconciliation of his family. When Joseph’s brothers learned that he was alive and in a position of great power they feared for their lives. Joseph’s response found in Genesis 50:20-21 speaks volumes of his character and maturity in that moment of time. He declared, “‘You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. {21} So then, don’t be afraid. I will provide for you and your children.’ And he reassured them and spoke kindly to them.”

The Apostle Paul reminds us of this principle as well in Romans 8:28 where he writes, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

I mentioned in a blog article recently of our family’s dream building activity in terms of a house in the future. That was not the only thing that was considered. My wardrobe is aging. Our family has faced some financial challenges in recent months and things are very tight. We know the present in under the Christmas tree, but the time to open that present is still to come.

One of the things which Joel Bauer, one of my mentors taught me years ago was the importance of how we dress. Some of the shirts I have had over the years are beginning to wear and I was looking for replacements, but the type of shirt I am looking for does not find its way into used clothing stores very often. A friend suggested a website a while back, where if you are willing to wait for things to arrive, you can get some great deals. I took a chance a while ago and purchased a shirt. That shirt arrived this week. I was sceptical about the quality, because the ad said it was worth $225.00. I paid with shipping, less than half the price Canadian for an average department store shirt of the same style.

I have never worn a $225.00 shirt before this week. I was amazed by the quality and feel of the material. Now I know first hand the difference between what I have had and what I just received. I could not get the specific colour I wanted, because they are now sold out, but I did order another one. I have been blessed with two quality shirts for less than it would cost for one in a department store.

My daughter Andrea has been incredibly busy dealing with the year end bookkeeping for the business, plus everything else on her plate. Yesterday morning she took the time to come with me and play the piano for the church service at the County nursing home. The people really appreciate it when she does this. We had been discussing earlier how we did not know where finances to pay the next round of bills would come from. A couple of hours ago she received an email telling her congratulations, she had just received payment for an affiliate program sign up. This is a legitimate payment that will pay one of her bills for next month.

In the midst of challenges, who do you trust. God is true to His Word when you are willing to trust Him, even when you do not see how things will work out. But that is what faith is all about, isn’t it? What will your life’s story reveal about you and your faith?

Your Success Is Ultimately Founded on Who You Will Listen To!

It is likely you have experienced this situation in some form in your life. You have purchased an item and when you took it out of the box along with the various pieces there was a sheet of paper, or maybe a little booklet labelled, “instructions.” There are a number of potential scenarios presented in this moment of time. You might need to scan for your language among the many options, look for a magnifying glass in order to read the very tiny print size, or find an interpreter to figure out what the online translation was actually attempting to tell you. Have you ever been in such as situation? I know I have.

I am also aware, that while the struggle with print size may not be an issue, there are many challenges people face when it comes to understanding what The Bible, God’s Word is really saying. Unfortunately there are poor translations which leave people confused and wondering what is really being said. There are differing viewpoints which are often heatedly debated with less than godly expression, leaving a person wondering about any value to what God is seeking to communicate.

The level of negativity and hurt experienced by people as it relates to God’s Word is appalling. At the same time this should not hinder, or stop us from expressing the truth which God desires for us to hear and incorporate into our lives. This is why I am on a mission to change the perspective of how we view the Scriptures. My personal view about the Bible is that it is a tool which God has created to carry the message, He is a relationship builder and restorer, not a law enforcement agent. I believe and seek to communicate this as a result of His love. He put into operation all the necessary components, through His Son, Jesus the Messiah, to deal with every aspect of building and restoring a relationship which was broken from the time Adam and Eve rebelled against Him (Romans 5:8).

Beginning on March 17, 2019 I will be developing the next training series explaining this perspective from a portion of Scripture familiar to those who have some connection to God’s Word. My intention is to provide a foundation of understanding and clarity for spiritual growth and development for everyone, regardless of where they are in their relationship with the Source of all things. I invite you to join with our Grace Church of the Nazarene family in Shelburne Ontario, Canada at 10:30 a.m. EDT, live on site, or via live via the internet at: www.SayYEStotheRelationship.com. The message will also be available on my FaceBook page live at approximately 11:00 a.m. EDT. Replays will be posted as well.

Don’t let the negativity, confusion and influence of others keep you from enjoying what it is God is offering you. Find out for yourself. “Perceive and joyfully experience that Yahweh is good; blessed is the valiant person {warrior} who takes refuge in him.” The first basic universal principle I will be addressing on March 17 relates to the topic, “Who do you listen to?”
