Having written more than 1,000 daily blog articles, I have to admit there have been a few occasions when I have struggled to find an idea to write about. Not many, but there have been a few. Today’s article was becoming one of those occasions. At some point yesterday I began to think about how Charles Schultz must have felt having produced so many Peanuts comic strips.
SchultzMuseum.org records that Charles produced 15,391 daily strips and 2,506 Sunday strips. That works out to approximately 49 years worth of continuous daily creativity. When I found out this information I was amazed at his commitment and dedication to the task. His brilliance of not only providing humour, but important and insightful life principles is truly inspiring.
I wonder if he had an occasional day when he wondered and struggled with the feelings of, “what am I going to say today?” Successful people are often willing to carry on long after unsuccessful people have quit. Perseverance and commitment to a passion is an important ingredient in life. Charles Schultz did not do what he did for 49 years because it was a job. What he did was intimately connected to what he believed was his purposeful passion in life. He made a difference in ways know one will ever truly know, but he did it anyway.
Isn’t this what each one of us must discover and be involved in achieving with our lives? It is not always going to be easy. It may not always be glamourous, but it will bring satisfaction and fulfilment into our lives. That is important, isn’t it?
I want to encourage you to not to give up on your dreams and goals, but to look for creative ways to continue to move forward. God did not gift and grace you with all you need so you can simply give up. He has promised to be with you, if you will allow Him to be part of your life. Don’t Give Up! It really is your choice!
