I mentioned a while back on Face Book that one of the major wholesale distributors of Christian books and other supplies was going out of business. At that time our family business purchased extra stock while we could get it. One of the things my daughter purchased was a book that we as a family will provide as a gift to various people and family members. I will not mention the title of the book, just in case any of those future gift recipients should be reading this article. I set one copy aside for myself to read in a future time and forgot about it. Yesterday I was looking for something and saw a book and wondered, what book is that and discovered it was “that” book. Knowing it was not the time to start another book, I simply flipped the book open to a random page and these words were the first I saw. They caught my immediate attention.

I read, “When God puts a promise in your heart, you have to come to the place where you believe in that promise so strongly no one can talk you out of it.” I closed the book and read no further. What follows in that chapter will be for another day when time permits reflection on it.

Is there something in your life you believe in that strongly? Does what you think and what you say and what you do align in such a way that no one can talk you out of it? Are you prepared to stand for, believe in and claim the reality of it in this physical world no matter what others may say? You do not have to look far to find people who will dump negativity on you trying to put rats in your head. So choose wisely your friends and those you want in your life. An important principle to consider is, who do you listen to? Pay attention to what is being offered to you and be aware so you can make discerning choices which keep you on the path you are passionate about.

King Solomon wrote in Proverbs 1:8-15, “Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. {9} They will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck. {10} My son, if sinners entice you, do not give in to them. {11} If they say, ‘Come along with us; let’s lie in wait for someone’s blood, let’s waylay some harmless soul; {12} let’s swallow them alive, like the grave, and whole, like those who go down to the pit; {13} we will get all sorts of valuable things and fill our houses with plunder; {14} throw in your lot with us, and we will share a common purse’– {15} my son, do not go along with them, do not set foot on their paths.” We know from 1 Kings 12, Solomon’s son Rehoboam did not follow his father’s advice and the Kingdom was divided as a result.

I would encourage you to be faithful to who you were created to be. Live up to your full potential. Don’t let anyone steal your dreams and don’t allow yourself to bail on your dreams. As Les Brown always says, “You have greatness within you!”

By the way, I did not forget to tell you the name of the book or author earlier. You must contact me if you want that information.
